Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., has announced the availability of MultiConnect®ConduitTM AP access point for LoRa® technology in North America. Popular for enterprises and operators alike and proven in Europe, the new cost-optimized gateway connects thousands of IoT assets to the cloud utilizing the power of LoRaWAN™, a Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) specification deployed for wireless battery operated Things in both private and public regional, national and global networks.

“Enterprise customers have embraced the MultiConnect Conduit AP access point for LoRa technology for its proven functionality, extending end-point density and coverage in difficult to reach areas where cell tower or rooftop deployments may not penetrate,” said Daniel Quant, Vice President of Product Management and Strategic Marketing. “Ideal for improved coverage of IoT assets clustered in commercial buildings like hotels, convention centers, offices and retail facilities, the access point is easy to deploy mounted on walls or ceilings to extend LoRaWAN connectivity.”

The Conduit AP supports eight uplink and one downlink LoRa channel capable of supporting thousands of LoRaWAN end points, including the MultiTech MultiConnect® mDotTM & xDotTM LoRaWAN certified modules, connected to remote sensors or appliances.

The Conduit AP features two development environments for developers and users alike. Advanced developers may select the mLinux, Yocto Linux BSP, ideal for integrating directly to a public LoRaWAN Network Server managed remotely in the cloud, enterprise data center or a public operators’ core network. Whereas, the AEP version features a GUI-based environment for easy set-up and comes with a built-in LoRa Network Server, ideal for setting up a private LoRa network to connect locally clustered IoT assets to the cloud with certified connectors for leading IoT platforms. Leveraging a decentralized network architecture, the AEP extends applications and complex event processing to the network edge in order to reduce upstream communication and ongoing operational costs. Whether deployed in public, private or hybrid networks, the access point provides a choice of 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi or Ethernet IP backhaul.

Key benefits and features include:

Benefits

  • Configurable Ethernet and 4G-LTE cellular interfaces for Primary or Secondary WAN failover
  • Simple setup wizard on power-up for quick and easy installation
  • Connect any LoRaWAN asset to your preferred data management platform
  • ISM band scanning for optimal channel performance
  • Wide range and deep in-building penetration

Features

  • 4G-LTE with 2x2 MiMo (3G-HSPA+ includingDiversity /2G-GPRS fallback) cellular module
  • LoRa Omni-Directional internal antenna with +2 dBi gain for 902 - 928 MHz ISM band
  • Ethernet RJ-45 10/100 Base-T for wired IP backhaul
  • Embedded  Yocto Linux BSP
  • Consumes less than 7W sustained power
