Earlier this week, TDK hosted their 7th annual TDK Developers Conference in Santa Clara, CA. Symmetry Electronics is proud to have been the sponsor for the cocktail reception for the TDK Developers Conference. In addition, Mouser was the Platinum sponsor for the event.

Symmetry Applications Engineer Tyler Wojciechowicz attended the conference and shared his thoughts on what he saw:

"The TDK Developers Conference was a great opportunity to see the latest developments in wireless, sensor and IoT technology. There were many interesting presentations at the conference that are worth mentioning, but one that stood out to me was the Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 platform designed specifically for wearables. While most wearables currently available use a phone processor, this is often not ideal since the average user interacts with their wearable 5% of the time. Qualcomm solved this by adding a co-processor that takes over during ambient mode, helping save power. A platform like this can help further maximize the efficiency of InvenSense sensors within an application.

Another memorable experience at the conference came from the team at Cambridge Mechatronics. They have invented a type of metal made with 50% titanium and 50% nickel that contracts rather than expands when run with a current, unlike most other metals. They demonstrated the properties of the metal using a wire the diameter of a human hair that they were able to contract with the accuracy of a single wavelength of light. Currently, they are exploring this technology to zoom and stabilize cell phone camera lenses much smaller than what is currently on the market. In order for the precise image stabilization, focus and zoom functionality to work, motion sensors data is required from InvenSense's line of highly reliable motion sensors.

All in all, it was great to see all the new and interesting projects that are in the pipeline for TDK and how TDK's technology is helping to revolutionize the world around us and helping us humanize the digital experience."

Past years have seen over approximately 400 developers attending the conference.

As a distribution partner of TDK-InvenSense products and TDK-Micronas products, Symmetry maintains a great relationship with TDK and is proud to be a sponsor for the conference.

TDK-InvenSense

TDK-InvenSense provides industry-leading sensor technologies in motion tracking, optical image stabilization, location tracking and audio microphones; their solutions can be found in consumer, industrial, automotive and IoT market sectors. Symmetry Electronics is proud to be an authorized distributor of InvenSense products.

TDK-Micronas

TDK-Micronas, a TDK group company, is a leading developer and manufacturer of semiconductor-based sensor and IC system solutions for automotive and industrial electronics. They offer a variety of Hall sensors and embedded controllers for smart actuators for applications such as building and process automation, robotics, home appliances, agricultural, and automotive.
