TAIPEI, Taiwan and MILPITAS, Calif., Dec. 12, 2016 -- Silicon Motion Technology Corporation(NasdaqGS:SIMO) ("Silicon Motion" or the "Company"), a global leader in designing and marketing NAND flash controllers for solid state storage devices, today announced that it has been named the "Best Financially Managed Semiconductor Company" for 2016 for semiconductor companies achieving up to $1 billion in annual sales by the Global Semiconductor Alliance ("GSA"). Silicon Motion was presented with the award at the annual GSA Awards Dinner Celebration on December 8, 2016 in Santa Clara, California.

According to GSA, the Best Financially Managed Semiconductor Company Award is based on a broad evaluation of the financial health and performance of public semiconductor companies. Numerous financial metrics such as growth rates, margins and profitability, cash flow and return on capital are analyzed. All companies are ranked on each metric and then the overall performance is compared to the peer universe to determine the winner.
