About Jamie Pederson

For this installment of the ESC Silicon Valley series, we join the Silicon Motion, a global pioneer and leader in the control of NAND flash storage, for a quick rundown of their storage management devices which include FerriSSD and Ferri-eMMC. The Silicon Motion storage management products provide a cost-effective solution for storage applications with dynamic power management, in-system programming, and an advanced ECC (error correction code) engine.

The Osprey visual IoT controller was of great interest at this booth because it is a complete product ready for connected display devices such as digital signage, POS terminals, and digital picture frames, just to name a few. The Osprey has dual full HD display capabilities with the SM750 embedded graphics processor coupled with Ferri-eMMC storage, all in a small form factor that keeps board space and cost at a minimum for the designer. The Osprey features the X1000 Pentium ISA compatible 32-bit Intel Quark and a single-core single thread processor based on Intel architecture running at 400 MHz.
