Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, SST designs, manufactures and markets a diversified range of memory and non-memory products for high volume applications in the digital consumer, networking, wireless communications and Internet computing markets. SST's Non-Pb (Lead-Free) Products
SST is Committed to a Better Environment
SST is a leader in offering environmentally friendly products to its customers. In March of 2002, we announced and began shipping volume production of non-lead products. By 2003, almost every SST product was offered in production with a lead-free option. As of July 1, 2007 all SST products are lead free.

SST fully supports the Electronic Industry Code of Conduct (EICC) in addition to all internationally-accepted environmental regulations including RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances). In an effort to advance global environmental awareness, SST actively promotes environmental consciousness with all partners and suppliers.

All of SST's non-Pb (lead-free) products are RoHS compliant.

RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances) is a European Union (EU) directive that bans lead (Pb) and other certain materials in electrical and electronic equipment. This directive took effect on July 1, 2006.

The RoHS directive bans the following substances:

Lead and it's compounds
Mercury and it's compounds
Cadmium or cadmium compounds
Hexavalent Chromium and it's compounds
PBB (polybromobiphenyl)
PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ethers)

In addition to these substances, SST's non-Pb (lead-free) parts also do not contain the following substances:

Chlorinated paraffins (chlorine flame retarding materials/plasticizers)
Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) category
Polychlorinated naphthalene category
Organic Tin compounds (Tributhyl tin category/Triphenyl tin category)
Asbestos
Azo compounds
CFCs or other Class 1 Ozone Depleting Substances
